Andy's Kars is coming over all pink!
Andy's
Kars is revving up for Breast Cancer Awareness month with a new
name, logo and colour. Andy's Kars in Bar Hill will be transformed
into "Andy's Bras" during October to raise awareness and funds for
cancer charities, Cancer Research UK and Breast Cancer Care.
Andy's
Kars has recently been announced as the Remploy Leading the Way
awards 2007 regional winner in the small category for the Midlands
region; an award recognising the garage for their efforts in enabling
disabled people to realise their working potential. Andy's Kars
prides itself on employing young people with special needs and inviting
children with learning difficulties and those considered troublesome
to work with them.
Andy's
Bras fundraising efforts will begin on Monday 1st October, with
special guest Sarah Burge, the Real Life Barbie launching the month's
events. The new signage will be revealed and the mechanics will
don their new pink overalls.
Throughout
the month the garage is holding several fundraising events, including
"Pink My Ride' an alternative twist to the popular MTV TV show.
Andy Bra's will be welcoming back passed Work experience young people
who will all have a hand in turning the 1995 Sky Blue Toyota Corolla
(donated by ADL Blue Print) into something fabulous! The car will
undergo a full make over including new wheels, interior, sound system
and it will be sprayed pink! The car plus one years insurance (covered
by Sureterm Direct) will be the top lot at a charity auction in
November.
To
mark the end of the event and celebrate Andy's Kars fifth birthday
there will be a lingerie catwalk show and charity auction. The event
will be held at Next Generation Health and Fitness Club on Coldhams
Lane on Saturday 3rd November. The catwalk will include underwear
ranges from many high street stores such as La Senza, Debenhams
and Ann Summers, modeled by real women who have been found through
a model search. The auction hosted by Mark Peters of Star 107 radio
will follow the catwalk show. Auction lots will include the "pink
my ride" car, a year's membership at Next Generation Club and many
more plus signed bras from celebrities including Imogen Lloyd-Webber
and Sarah Burge.
"The
month of October is known as cancer awareness month and we felt
it was appropriate to do something that would contribute to a very
worthwhile cause that helps many people. Everybody is touched in
some way during their life by a disability or are disadvantaged
in one way or another, or know someone that has. Unfortunately our
industry (motor) is always seen to be taking, so it's good to be
able to give back and show that we do care." says Andy Kent, proprietor
of Andy's Kars.
