Andy's Kars are leading the way
Local
garage Andy's Kars has been recognised for its efforts in enabling
disabled people to realise their working potential. The garage has
been announced as the Remploy Leading the Way awards 2007 regional
winner in the small category for the Midlands region.

Kars in Bar Hill watched by members of his staff [l-r] Jason Dickinson,
Scott Mackie, Emma Muttock, Mark Leaney, Nathan Missen and Richard
Daff.
Andy's
Kars works with schools in the region, inviting children with learning
disabilities to experience working life. This helps the children
to see their potential and learn valuable working life skills. The
children walk away with a huge sense of achievement and their confidence
sky-rockets.
This
year Remploy celebrates the 11th anniversary of these important
awards, developed to recognise outstanding employers and individuals
who have made significant efforts to actively encourage diversity
within their organisations. Delivered in association with The Times,
the awards scheme is all about acknowledging employers from all
sectors and of all sizes who are adopting best practice and progressive
thinking in the employment of disabled people and people with health
conditions.
"This
award is in recognition of the way we adjust our work ethics and
environment to suit our employees' needs. This award is about how
we put the effort in as a team and work togetherand the way we see
the person, not the disability," says Andy Kent, proprietor of Andy's
Kars. "We would like to thank the Job Centre for nominating us and
Remploy for rewarding us for the work we do."
Andy's
Kars will now go forward to the national finals on Monday 15th October,
to be held at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel in London. The winners
will be announced on the day with the awards presented by Richard
Farleigh from BBC TV's Dragon's Den.
